Happy Birthday to Us - We Are 3

It seems like just last year that we offered our first FileMaker training course in Sydney. How time flies! On 20 November 2006, three people attended a FileMaker Pro 8.5 Essentials course. The next day, ten people attended the follow-up course. Since then, we have trained over 350 people from more than 200 companies and organisations. In that period, we have also seen the release of new versions FileMaker Pro 9 and FileMaker Pro 10. Our courses have been rewritten with each release to accommodate the new features. David Head is the only FileMaker Authorised Trainer in the region and trains the official FileMaker curriculum.

One, Two... FREE!

uLearnIT is three years old and we are celebrating by giving you a special deal on training. For all courses in November and December (see below for dates), uLearnIT is offering the third course FREE!. Simply book three or more course places and the third enrolment is FREE (for equivalent priced courses). Course participants find it very useful to have a colleague who also attended the course.

Hello Sydney

The other big news for November is that uLearnIT has relocated to Sydney. We are now better positioned to provide customised on-site training for customers on the East coast. We can also offer a more flexible training course schedule Ð more courses with more appropriate breaks between courses. We will be scheduling training in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Other locations such as Adelaide, Perth and Hobart will be offered on demand.

We are also working with Foundation Business Software in Auckland to offer FileMaker training courses. Check the details at the Foundation Business Software web site.

Next year, 2010, is shaping up to be a big one. Keep an eye on the newsletters and the uLearnIT website for announcements.

FileMaker Authorised Trainer

David Head attended training at Apple HQ in the USA in February with the best and brightest FileMaker trainers. Training was conducted by the guys who wrote the FileMaker Training Series book - Scott Love, Bob Bowers and Steve Lane. uLearnIT is now authorised to deliver courses using the FileMaker Training Series for FileMaker 10. As the only Authorised Trainer in the Asia Pacific region, David will be leading training courses based on the new FileMaker Training Series materials. These materials are the cornerstone for anyone studying for Developer Certification for FileMaker 10.

Quick FileMaker Pro Tip

You can quickly access many field settings by double-clicking a field in Layout mode. If you simply double-click the field, the Field/Control Setup dialog allows you to set the control style (pop-up list, checkboxes, etc) and specify the field displayed. If you hold down the Alt or Option key and double-click, you can set the field formatting (text, date, number, etc). And if you hold down the Control (Windows) or Command (Mac) key, you can set script triggers for the field (FileMaker Pro 10 only).
